Screeeeech!

It’s a sound that no one wants to hear, especially while driving their car around Raleigh.  It’s the sound that your vehicle’s brakes may be making as they go bad.  It is the obvious final sign that you have waited too long to have your brakes checked.  There are things you can look for and notice before that, however.

Here are some signs that your car’s brakes have lived out their lives –

1.  The brake light comes on…duh!
2.  Wobbling and vibration when stopping.
3.  Fluid is leaking.
4.  Soft or spongy brake pedals.
5.  A burning smell.
6.  And, of course the aforementioned squealing and grinding noises.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda…we can all kick ourselves that we did not have our brakes checked earlier, but NOW it is definitely time to drive in (carefully, now your brakes are going bad) to Jim’s Auto Service located at 3711 Tarheel Dr. in Raleigh.  You could also call ahead for an appointment at (919) 824-4566.

Happy Holidays from a Full-Service Auto Mechanic.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but when you find a family doctor that you trust you do not ever want to leave him or her for any reason.  When the kids start going to a dentist that you really like you want them to continue visiting that particular practitioner.  The same should apply to your auto mechanic…shouldn’t it?

If you see a nationally recognized name on the front of the building that COULD give you some comfort I suppose.  Here is the downside of that.  You don’t necessarily come to know your mechanic year-in-and-year-out.  There is something to be said for having the same person repair and maintain your 2017 vehicle that you also trusted with your 1978 Chevy.

For more than four decades Jim Liacos has been the ultimate “shade tree mechanic”.  He repairs as well as maintains domestic, foreign, European, even hybrids.  If you are located anywhere in the Raleigh Durham Triangle area you can count on him to treat your vehicle with the same TLC that he did your father’s car.  Make him your new auto mechanic by calling (919) 824-4566.

Is Your Car Telling You It Needs Brake Service?

We tend to overlook our brakes until we hear screeching noises.  There are many other signs of impending brake failure before it ever gets to that point.  Does your brake pedal feel more soft and spongy?  Conversely, if the brake pedal is hard to push this may be indicative of a problem in the power assist mechanism.

Worn seals or split hoses may seriously reduce your braking poser.  If your car pulls to one side or another you may be headed for eventual disaster even if there is no noise at this particular time.  How long does it take to come to a complete stop?  This one can sneak up on you because you are not thinking that it is taking longer to stop with the same amount of pressure on the brake.

Jim’s Auto Service in Raleigh is a Raleigh NC brake repair specialist.  Jim Liacos brings more than 40 years of experience to brake systems of all kinds.  That’s why his family of repeat customers continues to grow.  Make an appointment today to have your brakes inspected at his location at 3711 Tarheel Drive in Raleigh by calling (919) 824-4566.
