Tune into This Message.

Are you driving an older vehicle around the Raleigh area?  Well, most older vehicles with non-electronic ignitions should be tuned every 12,000 miles or so, or perhaps annually…whichever comes first.  That is recommend as a good rule of thumb.  Newer cars may go up to 100,000 miles between tune-ups.

For example, if a dirty air filter is not replaced, the engine may receive less air than it needs to run properly.  The tune-up should also include cleaning or replacing the spark plugs and, on older vehicles, the distributor cap and rotor.  Tune-ups may also include replacement of the fuel filter, oxygen sensor, PCV valve, and spark plug wires.

Tune-ups are exactly what you think they are…ways to keep your car on the road longer and running at peak efficiency.  One of the best places to get that tune-up is Jim’s Auto Service.  All you need to do is take your older model vehicle into the shop located at 3711 Tarheel Drive in Raleigh or call for an appointment at (919) 824-4566.

Who is Responsible for the Work?

When you trust your precious vehicle to an auto mechanic it’s nice to know that you can trust them implicitly.  Such a man in the Raleigh area is Jim Liacos.  What about Jim?  At an early age he learned auto repair and how valuable scheduled preventive maintenance is to vehicle longevity.  His father’s fleet of cabs often reached 350,000 miles with no major engine trouble!

At one time, Jim worked as a scientist at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames Iowa.  He was awarded four Research Excellence Awards.  It seems like a far cry from the auto repair industry, but not really as it shows his attention to detail.  Then came Jim’s Auto Service…  pursuing excellence in automotive repair and customer service.

Today, Jim proudly employs some of the best auto mechanics in the Raleigh area at 3711 Tarheel Drive.  He has hired carefully throughout the years to ensure that the pursuit of excellence continues to this day in the repair of virtually any make or model of vehicle.  Call Jim’s Auto Service for an appointment at (919) 824-4566.

What is a Tune-up?

Your vehicle can get great benefit from a tune-up.  Put it this way…it is one of the very best ways to maintain the original performance of your ride.  Working on a car that is badly out of tune can give a noticeable boost to both engine performance and fuel economy.  That should be all that you need to know!

Here is another way to put it…do the tune-up now and potentially prevent far more expensive repairs later.  The common parts that are replaced when your vehicle is tuned-up are things such as spark plugs, wire plugs, an air filter, as well as a fuel filter.  It is not necessary to know how each of these things work in synergy, just that they do!

Jim Liacos and the tune-up professionals at Jim’s Auto Service know how to tune-up every make and model of vehicle on the roads of the Raleigh area.  It comes from decades of experience as well as staying on top of new technology.  At Jim’s Auto Service on 3711 Tarheel Drive you get both.  Call for an appointment today at (919) 824-4566.
